"Inspector
General Michael Missal’s office, meanwhile, is interviewing witnesses and
issuing subpoenas for records in its investigation. That has attracted the
interest of senior officials at the Justice Department, according to a person
familiar with the probe, which is looking at possible false statements, false
medical records and wire fraud. "We are aware of and continue to investigate
these schemes,” Missal said in a statement.

be the veteran — not the company — who will be held liable because its
